Port Triggering to Tp-link router

настройка роутера tp-link

On this page, you can create or change rules for the Port Triggering: Trigger Port, Trigger protocol, incoming protocol, the state on the router Tp-link.

The default gateway blocks all incoming requests for a connection. The mechanism of the Port Triggering function lies in the fact that when a specific event dynamically open ports on its external interface and bind them to the appropriate ports on your computer in a local network. Such an event is sent from the computer network packet to a specified port (Trigger Port) somewhere in the external network. A number of applications such as online gaming, video conferencing, Internet telephony etc., require the presence of multiple connections. Port Triggering is used for some of these applications that can not work with NAT-router.

Select the tab «Forwarding» – sub-tab «Port Triggering» on the left side.

Port Triggering to Tp-link router

On this page, you can create or change rules for the Port Triggering: Trigger Port, Trigger protocol, incoming protocol, the state on the router Tp-link.

After everything is setup as follows:

  1. Network Host creates an outgoing connection to an external host using the port as the port of destination, the number of which is specified in the Trigger port.
  2. The router records this connection, opens the incoming port or ports that are linked to this post in the Port Triggering table, and binds them to the network host.
  3. If necessary, an external host can connect to the node network through one of the ports listed in the Incoming Ports.
  • Trigger port  – This is a port for outgoing traffic. The outgoing connection through this port to activate the rule.
  • Trigger Protocol – This is the protocol used by the trigger port. Values: TCP, UDP, or All (All) (all protocols supported by the router).
  • Incoming Port – This is the port or port range used by the remote system when responding to an outgoing request. Request through one of these ports will be redirected to the computer, activate this rule. You can specify a maximum of 5 groups of ports (or port section). Port Groups are separated by “,”. For example, 2000-2038, 2046, 2050-2051, 2085, 3,010-3,030.
  • Incoming Protocol – The protocol used for incoming port. Options: TCP, UDP, or All (All) (all protocols supported by the router).
  • Status – state of the record. Enable means that the recording is active.
  • Modify – Edit or delete the entry.
  • Common Applications – Frequently used applications contained in the drop-down menu under Incoming Protocol.

To create a new rule, it is necessary to “Port Triggering” page, do the following:

Add or edit an entry in the Port Triggering page to Tp-link router.

Add or edit an entry in the Port Triggering page to Tp-link router.

  • In the Trigger port specify the port number used by the application to send outbound request.
  • From the drop-down list, select the protocol used for Trigger Port. Options: TCP, UDP, or All.
  • In the Incoming ports Specify the port number used by the remote system when responding to a request of the computer.

To edit or delete an existing entry:

  1. Select the desired entry in the table.
  2. Click Edit or Delete in the column Modify.

Click Delete All, to delete all records in the table.

Click Next to move to the next page, click Previous to return to the previous page.

  1. When you break the trigger connection corresponding open ports will be closed.
  2. Each rule only one network node at a time can be used. Trigger connection to other hosts on the local network will be banned.
  3. The values stated in the Incoming ports, should not be the same.
